this post is mainly for Mollie so I can show her the dress I made for Lola last night while our husbands were out at a Stars of the Lid/Christopher Willits concert last night. yay! I can’t wait to see it on her! it is a little weird in a few places, those were the spots being sewn at two on the morning. . .

well, I discovered who Ceasar Stofi is. . . I honestly think that these were the very same sort of candelabras I was admiring in those magazine spreads. . . and Chris just turned my one holder into two. cool. Gosia, let me know if you get anymore of these! I am on a new quest!

I have to say I am a little paranoid about candles, the pop cultureness of them. And I hate how they get fuzzy with dust if you leave them out. But I really do like the atmosphere they give, and my husband likes them (guys love candles so much)(?). I have always seen fabulous candelabras and menorahs in design magazines and decided that I could probably handle those. For the past few months I’ve been searching ebay for the perfect one, and eventually I found this one on Blue Bell Bazaar. Designed by Ceasar Stoffi for Nagel. . .not sure what that means, but it sure sounds cool. Then the problem of finding half inch diameter candle sticks. . . I could only find them in bulk, like for churches and midnight vigils. Then jackpot, Mollie and I found some rolled beeswax ones for, get this, fifty-cents at a little shop (and found a possible Royal Buffet opportunity!). Mollie actually bought them for me since we have a tab going. . . Bottome line, I love it! and yes it provides great stylish atmosphere.

first order of business, Chris’s zine and original art is up for sale! get one!

second, here is this fabulous portrait he did of Helen S. Astin, a psychology professor. This was an assignment they had to do for the “Helen of. . .” blog post.

This is a blog you absolutely must visit if you have a kiddo. Bella Dia started this blog to collect wonderful children’s crafts, I love the cardboard box dollhouse above, that was my favorite activity as a child, as well as the flower dolls. Maybe my son would enjoy them too? or maybe I hope I have a daughter someday.

I haven’t seen the movie, not sure if I want too, but this guy, Kent Williams illustrated the graphic novel- The Fountain. This is another artist that my husband introduced me too. Man alive, he is such a fabulous painter. i love the monochromatic colors with bright hints thrown in. I would love to get that print of the giant monkeys for my son, but I’m thinking it might be a little too terrifying. By the way, watch out for beautifully painted nudies.

Well. . . I have heard that summer is almost here. . .that means the end of spring, maybe at least for us southern belles. Let me be honest. This is my favorite peep show. I really, really want someone to own it and love it for themselves. So here is my proposal, starting now and ending um, how about. . .May 12 (husband’s 26 b-day) midnight, leave us a comment on this post and tell us why girls love spring and we will chose someone’s very best reason. That very lucky person will receive this very wonderful peepshow in a very thoughtfully put together package. Ok! we really want to hear from you! tell your friends! your mother! tell the girls! We love spring, but why!!!!! Oh yes. . .and take this shameless promotional giveaway opportunity to check out our other peep shows. . .

Last time I checked these were sold, but aren’t they wonderful? I hope someday some of them will be sold to me.

it’s almost hard to put these lovelies in the shop. i think we just really like making peep shows most of all, even though they are the most labor intensive things we make. i, for one, really enjoy thinking about them before i get started, like when i’m in the shower, or folding laundry, and thinking about them and flipping through encyclopedias looking for just the right bits of paper. three cheers for two new peep shows in the shop today! and new tags, to boot. (those tags tend to sell fast, so we suggest you snatch them up right away!)

thanks to lesleyof the what blog we’ve gotten a lot of royal buffet love today! hurrah!
